This section is designed to test your ability to understand spoken English. You will hear a selection of recorded materials and you must answer the questions that accompany them. There are TWO parts in this section, Part A and Part B.
Remember, while you are doing the test, you should first put down your answers in your test booklet. At the end of the listening comprehension section, you will have 3 minutes to transfer your answers from your test booklet onto ANSWER SHEET 1.
If you have any questions, you may raise your hand NOW as you will not be allowed to speak once the test has started.
Now look at Part A in your test booklet.
Part A
You will hear 10 short dialogues. For each dialogue, there is one question and four possible answers. Choose the correct answer—A, B, C or D, and mark it in your test booklet. You will have 15 seconds to answer the question and you will hear each dialogue ONLY ONCE.
Question 1:
M: The teacher called me in the morning and said that Bob failed the English examination again. Do you think we should urge Bob to study English?
W: Bob is not interested in learning English. We'll have to leave that decision up to him.
Question 2:
M: I thought you were going to call me last night. I was waiting the whole night.
W: I had intended to. But it was 12 o'clock when I got back home after meeting my friends. I didn't want to disturb you.
Question 3:
W: Hi, Jack, do you mind if I borrow your bike? Mine is under repair.

Question 4:
M: Look! I'm sorry to bother you about this, but could you turn that music down?
W: Sorry, I didn't realize you could hear it.
Question 5:
W: The traffic is really getting bad now. We were lucky to find a place to park.
M: It is a good job we got here early. Look at all those cars there. They'll never get into the car park.
W: The wisest thing we should have done is to leave the car at home and come here by bus. Question 6:
W: Good morning, Sir. Could I ask you to register, please?
M: Of course. What shall I do?
W: Just fill in this form, if you would, please.
M: Ok, please give me a pen.
Question 7:
W: Good evening, Sir. Are you ready to order now?
M: No, I just finished. I am waiting for my change.
Question 8:
W: Excuse me, can you tell me where is the Staff's Association meeting held?
M: It was planned to hold in Room 110, but has changed to the auditorium for more space.
Question 9:
M: I can't get up in time for my first class every day.
W: What about going to bed earlier this night?
M: But I didn't finish my homework yet.
Question 10:
