NASA is releasing several images taken by the Hubble Space Telescope, which is the closest yet look at the red planet. Altogether there are four images, which show the entire planet. Each view shows the planet as it completes one quarter of its daily rotation. In these views the north polar cap is turned toward the Earth and is clearly visible at the top of each picture. The images were taken in the middle of the Martian northern summer, when the polar cap was at its smallest size. During this season the sun shines continuously on the polar cap. Previous spacecraft observations have shown that this summertime polar cap is composed of water ice, just like Earth's polar caps.

The Hubble Telescope pictures reveal that great changes have occurred on the surface of Mars in the past 20 years. The Martian surface is ever changing. Some regions that were dark 20 years ago are now bright red; some areas that were bright red are now dark. Winds move sand and dust from region to region, often in huge dust storms. Over long timescales many of the larger bright and dark markings remain stable, but smaller details come and go as they are covered and then uncovered by sand and dust.

How is the image of the north polar cap of Mars?

A.Vague.

B.Clear.

C.Cannot be seen.

D.Barely visible.

听力原文: Most rain forests lie close to the equator, where the climate is often mild and there are long hours of sunshine. The warmth of the land heats the air above, causing it to rise and tiny drops of water to fall as rain. The rainfall can reach at least 98 inches a year. This wet, warm world with plenty of sunlight is perfect for plants to grow, so the trees grow fast with green leaves all the year round. The trees themselves also have an effect on the climate. They gather water from the soil and pass it out into the air through their leaves. The wet air then forms clouds, which hang over the tree tops like smoke. These clouds protect the forest from the daytime heat and nighttime cold of nearby deserts, keeping temperatures fit for plant growth. Rain forests slightly farther away from the equator remain just as warm, but they have a dry season of three months or more when little rain falls. Tree leaves fall during this dry season and new leaves grow when the wet season or monsoon(rainy season)begins. Thus these areas are known as the "monsoon forest". Another type of rain forest grows on tropical mountains. It is often called the "cloud forest" because clouds often hang over the trees like fog. The rain forest is the ideal place for the growth of many different trees. Most of them depend on animals to eat their fruits and spread their seeds. When the fruits are eaten, the seeds inside them go undamaged through the animals stomachs and are passed out in their droppings. The seeds lying on the forest floor then grow into new trees. Questions 19 to 21 are based on the passage you have just heard. 19. What do we know about the climate of the rain forests near the equator? 20. What can we learn from the passage? 21. Which plays the most important role in the spreading of seeds according to the passage?20.

A.Tree leaves are green all the time in the monsoon forest.

B.There is a dry season in the cloud forest on tropical mountains.

C.Clouds help the plants in the rain forest near the deserts to grow.

D.The formation of climate in the rain forest has little to do with the trees.

听力原文: Now for the weather prospects for the next 24 hours. In northern areas, tomorrow morning will start bright and sunny, with light westerly winds. Some clouds will come in during the morning, and by the afternoon it will be overcast, with very little sunshine, and probably some outbreak of rain. The westerly wind will change in direction to the north-west, and become rather stronger. So northern areas can expect a pleasant morning, but a dull and probably wet and windy afternoon. Temperature generally will be about 12 degrees Centigrade, so rather cold. That's the picture for the north. The picture for the south is rather different. Here it will be mainly dry. There will be some clouds, and maybe the clouds will be from the southwest, and rather light. Temperatures will be a couple of degrees higher, say fourteen or sixteen, most of the day. And that will be the pattern for the day, but in the evening and night the rather cold weather will move down from the north, so you can expect rain during the night. The out look for the weekend is that this rather cool wet weather will continue, at least through Saturday. And that's all from the weather desk.

What is the report about?

A.The weather tonight in the northern part of the country.

B.The weather yesterday in the whole country.

C.Tomorrow's weather in two parts of the country.

D.Tomorrow's weather in the southern part of the country.

听力原文:M: Hello! You seem worried. Can I help you?

W: Oh, I feel so strange with my feet in the skis.

M: So you don’t know how to ski. Is it the first time you come here skiing?

W: It’s even the first time I have seen the real white snow.

M: No kidding! Where are you from, young lady?

W: My family and I live in Hainan Province, China. We do not have snow in winter. It’s always sunshine.

M: No wonder. I guess you must be a good swimmer, then.

W: You’re right. Swimming is my favorite hobby. But I simply don’t know what to do with these skis.

M: Don’t worry. I’m sure you will learn it very soon. Now walk as I do, all right? ...Good! Let’s go up the hill and try once, shall we? When you want to go up the slope, you should stand sideways and go up step by step, just like a crab!

W: Oh, it’s really funny. I’ve never walked in this way, but it’s interesting.

M: Let’s move to the gentle slope, shall we? It will make things easier.

W: I guess I’m a little nervous.

M: Take it easy. Trust yourself. Now, keep leaning forward while going down. Remember the tips mustn’t cross or you’ll fall down. If you want to stop, you should point the tips together, got it?

W: I see. Oh, I have done it! Thank you. You are so kind!

听力原文:W: Good morning, Sunshine Speedboat Company. What can I do for you!

M: Good morning, can I speak to Nancy White?

W: Ah, Jacques, nice talking to you again. How's the weather in your part of the world?

M: Couldn't be better, Nancy. Sunny, 29℃, light breeze...

W: Stop! I can't take any more. I'm suffering the severe cold here.

M: Oh, terrible. Sorry to hear that Maybe you can come to join us; Susan is always expecting you.

W: Thank you, and Susan; she is always so kind. So, what can I do for you, Jacques?

M: I need a couple of your SB2000 speedboats to rent to guests. Can you give me a price quote?

W: Let me see... Uh, the list price is $6,500 U.S. You're a valued customer, so I'll give you a 10% discount.

M: That's very reasonable. Do you have them in stock?

W: Sure we do! We set up new inventory controls last year, so we don't have many backlogs any more.

M: That's good. The tourist season is just around the corner, so I need them pretty quick. What's the earliest shipping date you can manage?

W: They can be ready for shipment in 2-3 weeks.

M: Perfect. What's the total CIF price?

W: Hang on... The price will be $15,230 U.S. to your usual port. Do we have a deal?

M: You bet! Send me a fax with all the information, and I'll send you my order right away. I'll pay by irrevocable letter of credit, as usual. Same terms as always?

W: Of course.
